Epic England lands in the north with three Visit Northumberland trails

Working in partnership with Visit Northumberland, award winning GPS-audio tour brand, Geotourist, is delighted to announce the launch of three tours in the Northumberland towns of Hexham, Berwick and Alnwick. Bringing together a series of audio tours that ties together the history, geography, myths and legends of England on one audio-mapping platform for the first time, Geotourist welcomes the launch of phase one of Epic England.

Alnwick, Berwick and Hexham have all played important roles in England’s ancient past and well as its modern times. From battlements to keep the Scots to the North at bay as well as keeping an eye on sea-borne invaders, this region of England is rich in history, heritage and architecture. From the lush woodlands of Tyne Green in Hexham to the amazing formal gardens at Alnwick Castle, the Epic England trails give you a glimpse into how life is – and has been- in this region.

Shaon Talukder, CEO, of Geotourist said,

We are proud to deliver Epic England and we are delighted to be working with Visit Northumberland for phase one of the Epic England project. Northumberland is often noted for its stunning landscapes and sweeping hills that touch the Scottish border but the towns of the region is where the day-to-day life takes place and holds the key to what makes the region’s people so special. What makes it even more special is that Visit Northumberland has chosen to launch three Epic England presented by Geotourist tours across the region. This is an exciting proposal for visitors because it means that they can have access to a chain of tours that will allow them to understand what it is they are looking at and what makes the places that they are visiting a part of England’s story.”

Cris Brown, Business and Marketing Manager, at Northumberland Tourism, said,

We are proud to be part of phase one of Epic England, a digital story telling app bringing the stories of Alnwick, Berwick and Hexham to life. Free to download and easy to use, the app can be listened to on location or prior to visiting. Tourism is vitally important to Northumberland and we are constantly seeking new ways for visitors to discover more about Northumberland. The app offers visitors a real time, immersive way to discover more about the fascinating history of our market towns.”
